Every vehicle in our fleet is fitted with an in-cab unit which we use to send workload details to the drivers and they are able to send back information in return.
The unit also allows us to track the vehicles, monitor the drivers activities i.e. length of breaks etc. We use cab-link to provide the traffic office with real-time data.
The driver will send information per job such as time on/off, site pallet details and signatory information.
Keen to utilise the latest technology offered to us by our suppliers the Widdowson Group have recently invested in handheld communication devices optimised with Roadrunner SDI for all our drivers. This way the Widdowson Group can stay in contact with the entire fleet providing real-time information flow between the head office and drivers.
In conjunction with real-time updates from our FMS we have the ability to provide customers with a real-time report of their job status via our website.
This can be both warehouse and traffic driven, it is entirely down to what our customers requests.
We at the Widdowson Group rely heavily on the integrated systems, we currently use the Roadruner system which combines our warehousing, transport, freight and garage divisions.
This allows all areas of the business to communicate effectively and utilise the links we have between each division.
We have the ability to accept EDI information direct into our Traffic Control System and our Warehouse Management Systems.
this gives us several benefits, including no manual entry which cuts down on keying errors.
We use the RoadTech Internet EDI to Accept CSV files as EDI input into our system.
